Sketchythedawg is a footwear designer, cultural archivist, and visual storyteller with a penchant for illustration and irreverence. With one eye on the future and both feet firmly planted in the past, his approach is to reverse-engineer cultural movements through the lens of a scholar and the instinct of a designer.
The Sketchythedawg aesthetic can be described as playfully-elevated-core-street: a carefully composed mix of OG skate DNA, rave-era intensity, and high-fashion sensibility, all radiating the playful allure of an overflowing toybox. This visual and tactile overload is balanced by a structured, deliberate approach to form and styling.
His personally curated archive of vintage shoes, catalogs, clothing, and ephemera spans 50 years of skateboarding culture (1976-2025). Building this collection is an exercise in exploring, understanding, and protecting a legacy that has either been forgotten or never fully understood. It serves as a foundation for the broad yet highly refined visual perspective that runs through all of his work. More than just a collection, it's a testament to his role as a cultural steward, tastemaker, and thought leader, committed to designing with historical context and lasting relevance in mind.
Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, Sketchythedawg received a Bachelor of Design in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Outside of work, he enjoys skateboarding, tropical destinations, horror movies, and combing through second-hand markets to uncover the cultural fragments that inform his vision.
