My greatest fortune as a designer was being exposed to skateboarding and skate footwear as a young child in the late 90s and early 2000s. Many people would consider this time period as the ‘golden era’ of skateboard footwear design. For whatever reason, seeing those shoes at that age resulted in an obsession that has never let me go.

I have since broadened my interest to include the entire history of skate footwear design language. I would consider myself an archivist and enthusiast with a collection of vintage shoes, catalogs, and ephemera ranging from the mid 1970s - early 2000s.

I believe that skateboarding created the blueprint for modern streetstyle sneaker design. The original footwear design philosophies of skate have since transcended skateboarding, and become the underlying inspiration for any sneaker that blends different genres of footwear, to create a cohesive silhouette with casual appeal. If you look closely at almost every court-style cupsole sneaker design present in luxury fashion today, you will find skate footwear design philosophy at the core.

My goal is to continue this dialogue in a way that is more considered and nuanced than an overly padded tongue - blending the underlying philosophies, sensibilities, history, and energy of OG skate footwear, with the free-spirited thoughtfulness and refined taste of contemporary European luxury.

Rules: Tooling is paramount, aesthetics come first, shelf appeal is king, and form rules all.
